Don’t Run Away!

Don’t know what to do?!
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

1 Samuel 27:1, “And David said in his heart, ‘Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.’”

David reasoned that if he could make it into Philistine territory, then all of his problems would be over because Saul wouldn’t seek him there.

What was David thinking? He was going to leave the people of God and go live among the ungodly? David’s heart gave him false counsel and advice!

When we don’t talk to Jesus through prayer, we will talk to our heart and end up saying and doing things that makes matters worse.

Proverbs 19:2 says, “He sins who hastens with his feet.”

Proverbs 21:5 says, “Everyone who is hasty surely comes to poverty.”

Throughout the Bible, it warns us about doing things hastily. The only time the Bible encourages us to do things in haste is when it comes to the things of God like repenting or making a wrong right with someone but when we are depressed and we talk to our hearts instead of talking to God we make hasty decisions, and we go off speedily doing crazy, sinful things.

The enemy will always make you think that you need to act now and not wait on the Lord. It’s always good to wait on the Lord and pray it through.
