Be Still and Know

Be Still and Know
by: Pastor David Wood

Ephesians 4:29-32 NIV
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Psalm 46:10-11 NIV
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Proverbs 15:1 NIV
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 17:28 NIV
Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.
I am giving you the very best devotional today. Not because of what I am going to say but because I am going to say less and instead let the Word of God speak more.

There has been so much going on in the world right now. Some good, some bad. My heart has been lifted and saddened with all that is going on in the news right now. It seems like it has been a rollercoaster ride. Up and down and loop to loop. And to tell you the truth, the flow at which it is all coming has been like a firehose and overwhelming.

After wasting way too much time, I had to just step back. I think it is wise to know when we just need to back away from the noise of the world and instead, plug hard into the Word of God, our only real source of truth.

Galatians 5:22-23 says the following - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

When you feel world things affecting any of the fruits of the Spirit, that should be a huge flashing red flag. I certainly did and heeded the warning.

If you are feeling like I was, I would encourage you to stop, unplug from the noise, and instead, be still and know “WHO” is the only one in control of your life and eternity. Find your peace, find your joy, find your self-control. Tie back into your anchor and don’t forget to love one another.

Carry On,
