From Pain To Peace

From Pain To Peace
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel
1 Samuel 19:9-10 “Now the distressing spirit from the Lord came upon Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing music with his hand. Then Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away from Saul’s presence; and he drove the spear into the wall. So David fled and escaped that night.”
This is the third time Saul attempts to pin David to the wall with his spear! David got the point, Saul didn’t truly change his heart and so David ran away and escaped!
This is sort of like baseball. Three strikes and you’re out. David knew he needed to leave. Johnathon didn’t see David after that. He went into hiding for about 10 years as Saul and his men were hunting David. He had to go from cave to cave, from dwelling place to dwelling place, from city to city.
During this dark time, listen to how many psalms were written because of it. Psalm 18, Psalm 34, Psalm 52, Psalm 54, Psalm 57, Psalm 59, Psalm 63, Psalm 124, Psalm 138, and Psalm 142.
The point is for us to allow pain to fuel your devotional and prayer life. Let pain and pressure press you into your relationship to Jesus. Turn your pain into praise and prayer! When we turn to Jesus in our pain in prayer, He will give us His peace.
Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
