One Step Away From Death

One Step Away From Death
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

1 Samuel 20:3, “There is but a step between me and death.”

David let Johnathon know his dad is truly coming after him.  You can sense the desperation in the voice of David as he says those words.

This statement is so true and good to ponder. David lived in the conscious awareness that his life was hanging by a thread.

Now we typically don’t think this way, especially when we’re young. We think we’re invincible.

We just saw this happen with the young girl Iryna stabbed innocently on that train a few weeks ago and the young preacher, Charlie Kirk, assassinated last Wednesday! Both of them didn’t realize that they were going to die that day. We are seeing many mass shootings all over! I was at the Boise mall with my son when an active shooter came in and shot someone! There’s no guarantee that we will survive the rest of the day or year!
The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”

I hope we all realize, we’re not getting out of this alive unless Jesus comes before we die and raptures the church! The thing is, God hasn’t told us when our appointment with death is.

It is wise for us to live each day as if it is our last chance to live for Jesus.
