Be On Guard

1 Samuel 19:2-3, “So Jonathan told David, saying, ‘My father Saul seeks to kill you. Therefore please be on your guard until morning, and stay in a secret place and hide. And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak with my father about you. Then what I observe, I will tell you.’”
Jonathan began to help David as Saul’s anger and hatred toward David escalates. Saul’s intention could no longer be hidden. It’s just out in the open and he told his own son they need to kill David. So of course, Jonathan being Davids best friend, informs him of what his father’s intentions were and then he intercedes on behalf of David before his father. Jonathan told David that he better be on guard and stay in a secret place because the king wants to kill him!
We, like David, need to be on guard and alert because our enemy Satan is after us!
2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, “The lord is faithful who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.”
1 Corinthians 16:13 says, “Watch stand fast in the faith be brave be strong.”
Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation.”
Peter 4:7, “The end of all things is at hand be serious and watchful in your prayers.”
1 peter 5:10, “Be sober which means to be alert and be vigilant or be watchful because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.”
