Good Food

Good Food
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

Matthew 4:4, “Jesus said, ‘It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

When we go to a Bible teaching church, we will be fed and sustained by the Word of God.
God’s Word is what sustains us throughout the week.

Every one of us usually does a lot of eating each day! Did you know the average American eats about 2,000 pounds of food a year! That’s 5 pounds of food a day! Like eating 4 grizzly bears a year! 2000 loafs of bread. How much of God’s Word do we eat a day/year?

We don’t just eat regular food that goes in our belly! Eating can also apply to what goes in our mind, soul and spirit. If someone tells you something you haven’t thought of before you say, that’s food for thought or I’m going to chew on that. If you bought a new book and it was really good, you might say I couldn’t put it down, I devoured it! We often talk about information as food.

The Bible tells us there is a kind of food that doesn’t go into your stomach, it is a kind of food that goes into your mind, soul and Spirit. It’s the most important kind of food. Why? Because a full stomach is temporary, but a full spiritual soul and spirit last forever!

Jesus said in John 6, “I am the bread of life. I am the one who can fully satisfy you!”
