Are Your Hopes Dashed?

Are Your Hopes Dashed?
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

Ephesians 2:12, “Those who do not have Christ do not have hope.”

Hebrews 6:19-20, “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, is both sure and steadfast.”

David the psalmist in Psalm 42:11 said to himself during some of the darkest days of his life, “Why are you cast down, oh, my soul? Why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God,”

A Russian novelist said, “When we lose hope, we cease to live.” So many people are putting their hope in all the wrong things and their hopes continue to be dashed because they don’t put there hope in Jesus! If you put your hope in anything other than Jesus, those things will disappoint you every time! You have to put your hope in something that cannot be changed and that is God’s Word. Gods’ good news and Gods love for you!

Throughout the Old Testament, candles of hope were lit by the prophets as they predicted the coming One, the hope of a Deliverer, the Messiah, the Savior. They predicted Jesus’ birth, his life, his death, and even his resurrection. And there in Bethlehem, when Jesus was born, that was the fulfillment of all those hopes. Like the Christmas carol, “Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem,” says... “the hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight.”

Christmas is all about the hope of Jesus Christ and that’s why His name is in Christmas. It’s important to keep Christ in Christmas.
