What’s In Your Heart?

What’s In Your Heart?

1 Samuel 19:1, “Now Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David; but Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted greatly in David.”

Here we see Saul tell Jonathan and all of his servants that they should kill David. Saul’s jealousy and envy is no longer just in his heart, it is now coming out of his mouth.
Jesus told us in Matthew 12:34, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks whatever is in the heart of man is going to come out of his mouth.”

A good indication for us to know where we are in life is to listen to the words that have been coming out of our mouths because that shows what’s going on in our hearts. The tongue is like a bucket that goes down into the well of your heart and brings up what is there no matter how much you try to hide it the mouth is going to tell what’s going on in the heart.

Luke 8:17 says, “What’s done in the dark will come to the light.”

I love how it says Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted greatly in David. The Berkeley translation says that Jonathan highly prized David. His friendship with David was a gift and prize to him. Are we a blessing to others like David was to Jonathan? God has blessed each one of us to be a blessing to others!
