Christ Will Shine

Ephesians 5:13-14 NIV
But everything exposed by the light becomes visible-and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
When my wife Denice, turned 40, I had a surprise trip planned to take her to Hawaii. I booked the flight and the place we were staying, had called her bosses and had her scheduled for her secret vacation and had it worked out where all the kids were staying. It was a spectacular feat in my own humble opinion.
On that trip, one of the things we did was go on a submarine and go to the bottom of the ocean which was a little over 100ft where they ran the subs. Before they went down, they gave the people a bright red bandana. At first, I thought we were joining a gang but it turned out it was just for a demonstration.
As we dove deeper and deeper into the depths of the sea, something strange began to happen. The bright red bandanas all lost their color and appeared black at the ocean floor. Void of light, they had no color and even if they had all been different on the surface, on the ocean floor, there would be no telling them a part.
Without Christ, this is the story of us all. Without the light of Jesus, we are all dead and fall short of God’s glory. It is only the light and life of Jesus that saves us and says to us, “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead!” How wonderful and marvelous is that? Thank you, Jesus, our Light, our Life and our Savior!
