Armadillo

Armadillo
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel
1 Samuel 17:38-39, “So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, ‘I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.’ So David took them off.”
King Saul was trying to turn David into an armadillo. You need protection, here is some armor. Now keep in mind how tall Saul is. His head and shoulders were above everybody else. David was a young man. It was like giving your toddler your suit coat. David said to Saul, “I can’t walk with these, so David took them off.” It must have looked comical; it’s like when a child tries to put on his parents’ shoes, shuffling around. David said, I can’t do this. I’m much better with a sling, stones and Gods help. He was a sharpshooter with a sling. He could knock a fly off a horse’s ear.
Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”
