What's More Important?

What's More Important?
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel
1 Samuel 17:28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of you heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”
His brother is accusing him of wrong motivation, saying, you just came to see a fight. David comes to his brothers and his brothers reject him. Now, remember Jesus came unto his own, and his own received him not. Jesus’ own physical brothers rejected him. They eventually all became believers and followers of Jesus but not right away.
Whenever you go out to fight your Goliath, there will always be discouragement. It oftentimes will come from those closest to us. It happened to Joseph by his brothers and they sold him into slavery. I love how David wasn’t moved by the comments and words spoken against him.
When God gives you a dream and you step out in faith and go for it, you will be misjudged and misunderstood which is the giant of disapproval and you have to decide what matters more to you, the approval of other people or the approval of God. You have to know your called by God!
I decided a long time ago that the approval of God is more important to me than the approval of other people because people pleasing is miserable and it’s our job to live for an audience of one. For the smile of God.
