The Best Kind of Wealth

1 Samuel, “25:2 Now there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel, and the man was very rich He had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. And he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.”

In those days you measured wealth by how much livestock you had. This guy had 3,000 sheep and 1,000 goats. That’s pretty wealthy for those days. He was a businessman who was very wealthy and rich.

There are several ways that you can be rich. There are riches in what you have, that’s the kind of wealth that Nabel had. But the best kind of wealth is to be rich spiritually and in Christ like character and that’s the kind of wealth that Nabal was completely lacking in. When it came to the kind of man of God he was, Nabal was poor. We know that because it says in this chapter that he was harsh and evil in his doings.
