Strengthen Others

Strengthen Others
by: Pastor Ryan Scheibel

1 Samuel 23:16, “Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.”
I love how Johnathon comes and encourages David who was worn down by this trial suffering. A better translation is he strengthened his confidence in God. He bolstered his faith in God.

These are the type of people we need in our lives or the type of people we should seek to be for others. People who strengthen and encourage others in God! Priceless are those who will strengthen us in God, They encourage us to trust God. These people are a rare find!

Ephesians 6:10-11, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

The apostle Paul had someone like this in his life. 2 Timothy 1:16 says, “The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain.” I love that word refreshed. The Greek word means to revive, to encourage or to bring a cooling fresh air. It’s good to take inventory of the people that you have in your life right now. Do they often refresh you when they come around or do they always take from you like a straw that sucks the life out of you?
