No Compromise
by: Pastor David Wood
Matthew 16:24-26 NIV
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
When someone decides to become a Christian, accepts the gift of salvation and gives their lives to Jesus, what a wonderful and transforming thing it is.
They are a new creation, they are called to die to self and live by the Spirit.
They bury the old person and its sinful nature, leaving it behind to follow after our only hope, Jesus. Out with the old and in with the new.
It is not our lives and then add in some Jesus. It is not, just enough Jesus to get me into heaven. It is 100%, all in with Jesus.
It is not a smorgasbord where you pick and choose what your walk will and will not include. You eat it all!
I could go on with examples but I think you get my point.
The world is full of ways to compromise and that fall short of what these verses that we read today are saying.
We must be careful and intentional in our Christian walk. We must keep watch and ask the Holy Spirit to highlight areas where we may have compromised in, along the way.
When something is found, we must repent and turn that area fully back over to Jesus. Period.
No Compromise!
