1 Samuel 17:17-18, “Then Jesse said to his son David, ‘Take now for your brothers an ephah of this dried grain and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp. And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and see how your brothers fare, and bring back news of them.’”

His father said go to your brothers on the front line and take some bread and cheese to them. David was sent by His father to go and serve his brothers. It is such a picture of Jesus as He was sent by His father to serve and save us!

1 John 4:14, “the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.”

Mark 10:45, “He came to earth to serve and to give His life a ransom for many.”

I encourage you to be a servant leader like Jesus wherever God brings you!

Matthew 23:11, “the greatest among you shall be the servant of all.”

I want to hear Jesus say to me, “Well done good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many. Enter into the joy of the Lord” Matthew 25:21. The bread & cheese might have seemed very insignificant and of no importance but God used this small task to get David to where God wanted him to be, down in the battlefield ultimately to fight Goliath and it reminds us how important it is for us to not look at a task as unimportant. To recognize it as a task that God wants us to do to prepare us for what He has for us in our future and to get us to where He wants us to be.

Zechariah 4:10, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
